Each invited speaker of the ICG 2010 must meet the following criteria:
- Has an excellent research record;
- is a terrific speaker;
- preferably did not give an invited talk at the ICG 2007 in Strasbourg.
They will be chosen in 3 steps:
- About 80 names have been suggested by members of the International Advisory Board. The scientific committee has already chosen and invited 15 of these names (10 accepted). Their expertises cover different topics of glass science and technology and they work on different countries, respecting the size of the "glass" community in each country
- About 10 speakers will be chosen in March / April 2010, from the submitted abstracts, to fill possible gaps in important themes for which there are no invited talks.
- One speaker will be invited for each one of the 9 one-day symposia. They will be appointed by the symposium chairs and approved or not by the scientific committee. However, the invited speakers for a given one-day symposium will only be confirmed after that symposium is confirmed, i.e. if at least ~8 oral presentations of good quality are submitted to that particular symposium.
